Even when it is raining and bitterly cold I can still find delight in the way that the light reflects off the puddles or in the lines and shapes that have been created in the flooded fields. This piece has a feeling of calm and stillness, seen in the large expanse of sky and a warm glow of joyousness is created by using a limited colour palette of alizarin crimson, dusky pinks, rusty ochres and soft greens. The landscape is made of layers of thin and opaque paint, with beautiful patterns and surface textures that can be reminiscent of another place entirely.
I have hand painted the frame in grey with a touch of phthalo blue that sets off the painting beautifully as in the pictures.
