‘Glimmers’
‘Glimmers are micro moments in your day that spark a sense of awe, joy or connectedness. They can regulate us back to a feeling of ease and peace in our overstimulated worlds.’
This series came about from reacting to a group of small songbirds flying across the sky early one morning. Not only was my heart filled with gladness from the beautiful display of colours from the rising sun, but I was really smiling at the way the birds were fluttering in a line, as if they were young children laughing and playing a game.
In these small paintings, which are a culmination of photos I have taken and sketches made ‘en plein air’, the intention that I kept recalling was being filled with gladness and gratitude leading to an ease of mind.

This piece has a warm glow of happiness that brought a sense of ease to my mind. It captures a fleeting moment when I was looking up at the sky at dusk and a line of small birds flew across the horizon bringing to mind a group of young children laughing and playing happily.
I have used an almost fluorescent pink to bring that end of day glow to the clouds, which is then picked up in the grass of the meadows below.
The frame is hand painted in a dark grey with a hint of violet that sets off the colours in this painting beautifully.

Whenever I see a line of small songbirds flying across the horizon as the sun’s rays begin to awaken a new day, I am just filled with so much happiness and contentment.
This piece has more of a golden glow to the skyline as the sun begins to rise. I have then echoed the dusky pinks and soft mauves of the misty meadows back into a few of the clouds above.

A colourful sky at dusk or dawn can have me completely absorbed, bringing a sense of awe and wonder at how this is all created naturally. The line of birds that fluttered across the horizon, as if they were playing a game of follow my leader, made me beam with happiness.
The horizon has an almost fiery orange which eases to dusky pinks in the upper clouds. There is an almost purple haze to the meadows below that evokes that warm glow of rapture.

A colourful dawn sky can take my breath away and fill me with so much joy and awe for nature. Three small birds fluttering into the painting from the left hand side bring life to a morning that is just beginning to awaken.
The fiery orange and crimson colours in the sky are also hinted at with a glaze over the soft greens in the meadow below, adding to an overall warm glow of happiness .

This piece captures a fleeting moment that brought a smile to my face and a gladness to my heart. Looking out at a beautiful sunrise, whilst a small line of birds dance gaily across the sky, made me stop and take a breath and be thankful for what nature can show us.
