April’s reflections

Connection, wishes, new series & Accord.

Hello everyone, I hope this finds you well.

I LOVE spring! I am sitting here gazing at the beautiful blossom tree that I can see from my studio window and even though it’s raining and grey I can look past this knowing that warmer and sunnier days are on their way. Spring fills me with gratitude, joy and positivity in the same way that my art does.

Connection

At the start of the year I like to set a word that helps keep me focused and on track with my goals. Last year it was ‘JOY’ and I nearly kept that word but after a lot of thought my word is ‘CONNECTION’

I have been wanting to get my work seen by more people, which means I have to put my big girl pants on and start connecting with galleries, shops and building more solid relationships with buyers online.

So this month I did just that. At the beginning of the month I had a lovely chat whilst showing the latest series ‘Muse’ with the manageress of Arran Art Gallery.

Then last week I took the same paintings to ‘Deadly Digital’ in Glasgow to be scanned in order to start the process of creating Giclee prints. I had a wonderful chat with the manager and also had a peek at the prints he had done for other well known artists.

I have also been using social media to create content that builds connection. I want any potential buyers to feel connected to me and my work, building trustworthy relationships. You can read some of the funny facts about me on my facebook posts here or my instagram posts here

My wish for everyone that buys my work

I also created this post about what I hope people get from my work:

“All of what I choose to create is an expression of what positively moves me. When I am out in nature, I notice what brings me joy and when I’m painting, I am following the excitement from a curious exploration with paint that my process gives me. My goal is to evoke the same emotional response for the viewer who has a piece of my art in their home.

I want my paintings to give you the same feelings of joy, to make you feel uplifted and heartened.

To give you a warm glow of happiness each time you pass it by.

But I also want my paintings to bring ease and fill you with a sense of serenity, creating a space to rest and reset.

I want to create framed sanctuaries for the soul. Havens of peace. Gifts of gratitude for this beautiful world.”

Have you bought a piece of original art, either from me or from another artist? I would love to know what made you buy it and how it feels to have it hanging in your home.

New series

I am already working on the next series of paintings, set in motion by two paintings from the ‘Muse’ series.

I particularly loved the sky in this painting ’Quiescence’ as it had a more abstract quality to it. I love the shapes and colours that hint at clouds but aren’t a realistic representation of them.

There was also this painting that didn’t make it into the series but has piqued my interest too, leading me to explore the theme of joy. Well, ‘My Joy’!!

I am exploring what paintings would look like that are just a culmination of colours, shapes, marks and patterns that I really love….and that hopefully would resonate with my audience too!

Here are some of the initial marks on the first few panels. I would be interested in your thoughts about the lack of typical landscape features that I normally put in my paintings.

Accord Art Exhibition

And finally I would like to invite you to an exhibition in Paisley, Scotland, where I have 3 paintings hanging and available to buy. 50% of all sales will be donated to Accord Hospice so please go along and let’s help raise some funds for a worthy cause.

Many thanks for taking an interest in my work, it really does mean a lot that you have opened and read this email.

If you think someone else would like to read this then please don’t hesitate to forward it on to them.

Go well, until next time

Lisa
